Using shims with muzzle device/suppressor mount?

Is there any reason to use precision shims if I am not timing the muzzle device/suppressor mount? Or can I ust torque it up to the barrel shoulder?

Thanks!

Just watch out for the thread root radius; sometimes it isn't undercut, and you'll need a shim just to ensure that the muzzle device seats properly against the barrel shoulder.

EDIT: gross grammatical error

Thanks for the advice, and there is a relief groove in front of the shoulder.

I guess I was thinking there might be a benefit to torquing up against stainless shims, which might have a little "give" (not as much as a crush washer of course) compared to barrel steel, which I assume is harder. But I am probably over thinking it.

Torque it to the shoulder. Or do as instructed by the device mfg.
