Rifle Scopes USO help here please

Ok, so I managed to end up with a 5-25 USO, finally. SN 06-0251. Last week I ordered a Sunshade/ARD and OBJ cover for it. It came today. Went to install it, and no joy. The sunshade was too big, I didn't mic it, as I don't have mine with me right now, so I don't know how much bigger the sunshade is than the OBJ of the scope.

Did USO change the OBJ size on the 5-25s to 58mm from something smaller since 2006? Does my 2006 model have a different sized OBJ? Is it not a 5-25x58mm?

Already emailed Becky, but thought someone here could help me out since its the weekend and my curiousity has been peaked. I'm wondering if a Sunshade/ARD is even available for the model I have.

The other thing I considered, is that I may have received an ERGO 58mm sunshade or a 58mm Low Profile sunshade. Don't know if they are different, but I assume so since there are different part numbers for them on the USO page. I assume that the correct sunshade would be the 58mm Fixed, but I may be mistaken. According to the invoice, I was shipped a 58mm TPAL sunshade, which would be correct as my 5-25 is a TPAL.

Someone has to know more than I do. Its my first 5-25 TPAL. Never ran into this ordering sunshades for my 44mm TPALs.

It sounds like they got mixed up on their end. The 5-25 as far as I know only comes in 58mm Tpal, and the 3.8-22 SN3 comes in 58mm Ergo. I don't know if they are even building non-lo-pro Ergo's anymore.
I just measured, the ID of the threaded portion of my 58m Tpal is 2.517+/-". I can't measure my sunshade/ARD because I just sent it in to swap for a 2"-I hope they send me the right size. I'll find out next week I guess.....

Sounds like you got a 58mm Ergo shade. They will make it right, just give them a buzz on monday.

Is the ERGO shade bigger? I know it was on my 44mm. A lot bigger. This shade is barely bigger, and I mean barely, than the objective.

I'll see what Becky says on Monday, or maybe John will pop on this weekend and shed some insight.

The ERGO 58mm shade is bigger than the Tpal, not sure by how much though.

USO has never not came through before, that is for sure. Had a major snag last month and they went above and beyond to make it right. I've owned five of their scopes, and they have all been top notch.

It was my first 5-25. I just didn't know if the OBJ size has chanbed over the years. I thought all 5-25s were 58mm, but it wouldn't be the first time that I've thought I knew something I didn't!

Oh well, no joy, left a message. Its the weekend, and didn't expect to get in touch. I'll package it back up and get it back in the mail on Monday.

In the end, its a tool, that I use as a toy. My life won't depend on the sunshade, ard or cover. A coyotes life may, but mine won't!
