Just curious as to what velocities I should expect to get from my Rem 700 SPS V .308 with the 1:12 twist and 26" barrel with the factory Federal Gold Medal Match 168s and 175s ? I got this rifle set up and I am currently without a chronograph. Anyone with this setup tested these two factory loads and have velocities recorded ?

Thanks,
Danny

Danny, I don't have lot of data but using a prochrono I have 10 readings on the fgmm175 (308, not 7.62) in a 26 1:12 sps varmint 308. Avg is right at 2600. I can try to get a few more next weekend.

I don't have any 168s in gmm, only the American eagle otm and rem premier

Thanks "dmike", I'm going to start a barrel break in and zero on this one in the next few days. I figured I would start out with these two factory loads after break in and try it out to around 600 or so. Still waiting on some reloading equipment and supplies to come in along with a chronograph and just looking for a starting point.

dmike, I just put together a new SPS v with the 26" 1:12 twist. I replaced the trigger with a Timney set between 2 and 2 1/2 lbs. I bedded it in a Bell and Carlson A2 style Tactical Medalist stock with a new SS 10x42 MQ which is a mil/mil scope on a 20 MOA base and set in some Burris XTR rings. Just got it all together and put on the Harris bi-pod and Karsten cheek rest. It should make a pretty good shooter once I get it out there and figure out what she likes down the tube and then work up some hand loads once I get my reloading gear set up.
