Just finished shooting a few loads I worked up...looks like IMR 4064 pushing 168 gr A MAX..Win brass and CCI BR2 primers...loaded to 2.80"...Was wondering if anyone has velocity out of a Rem 700 SPS-V 26" bbl? Also what's the best way to measure sight height? thanks -Brown

Re: Velocity help please !!

center-line of bore to center-line of scope is measured from ring/split to blow-hole

Re: Velocity help please !!

Conograph the load, then you will know instead of guessing

That's the problem...no chronograph

Re: Velocity help please !!

Then no answer.. I've seen short barrels that gave up nothing in FPS to longer barrels as well as the opposite
Without a chraonagraph then it is only a guess

One can purchase a chronograph for 100 bucks

Re: Velocity help please !!

41.3gr looks like it lands on an accuracy node for the 26" barrel. I would start with that. An Amax at 2600fps is a good place to be, but I have not tested that load. I was running the 168 Amax with 45.5gr of RE15. That is a good load with 168gr SMK's as well.
