Collinsville, OK.
I went to the Badlands school a little over a week ago and I wanted to get some opinions on my velocity. I don't have a chrono.
I am using a Rem 700,.308 win Hart 26" barrel,1-12 twist. The conditions were from 90-114*F, 1200 ASL, 20-36% humidity, 29.2-29.5 baro. press. 3.5x10x40 TMR M3 turret, this is a 1moa per click turret.

Here are my adjustments, done over 2 days.
100 yd. zero
200 yd. 1moa
300 yd. 4moa hold @ 6 o'clock approx 2" down
400 yd. 7moa impact slightly high
500 yd. 10moa
600 yd. 15moa impact slightly high 95*F
700 yd. 18moa 105*F
800 yd. 22moa 105-110*F
900 yd. 26moa 105-110*F
1000yd. 30moa 105-110*F, 31@ 95*F, 29 with a 8-12 mph headwind.
These values were with a full or half value wind for the most part. I didn't give all the info.
I know the 175gr is supposed to carry better than a 168; but does this look like my vel. is around 2780. I did not leave my ammo in the sun. We had cover.

Re: Velocity ? on FGMM 175gr.

With those temps and local pressures you're Density Altitude was likely approaching 400' ASL. The 168 SMK doesn't have the same transition issues up there as it does down at sea level and lower DA's.

When I try to recreate your data I get 31.3 MOA under those conditions to 1k using the 175 SMK.

If I simply swap the 168 in for the 175 it jumps to 34 MOA of drop, I didn't bother to look at the wind as that is enough info there to know there's a better ballistic coefficient and therefore less wind deflection under otherwise identical conditions.

Re: Velocity ? on FGMM 175gr.

I was using the 175gr. SMK. Factory loaded ammo.
I was wondering if my rifle is shooting around 2780 fps (26" Hart) or were my elevation settings due primarily to the temp. conditions.
If you look at the pre-marked turret cap (for 168gr FGMM 24" barrel) my scope shows approx 825yds. Yet, I'm making 1000 w/ the 175's.

I know you are supposed to subtract about 1moa for every 20*F increase. What is the standard 60-70*F? Still 2moa change.

Re: Velocity ? on FGMM 175gr.

I have a typo above, it's not 400' but 4,000' DA.

The standard is 59F

I suspect that you're seeing a decrease in drop due primarily to the DA, but with a 26" Hart those kinds of speeds don't sound terribly high. High, yes, but not 100 fps high.
