A buddy and I shot a few different guns through a chronograph the other day and I was a little surprised at the velocity spread and was curious what others are seeing. Temp. outside at the time was around 30 degrees and chronograph was Chrony brand.

First gun, .223 (29) shots fired with on average a minute between each shot. Nosler custom comp. brass, necks turned, and neck sized only (cases on their second firing), annealed, cci br primers, varget powder weighed to .1 grain on a hornady electronic scale. Velocity spread of 117fps

Second gun, 6.5 creedmoor (14) shots fired with an average rest period of 1 minutes between shots. First time this gun has been shot. Ammo being used at this time was factory hornady a-max. Velocity spread was 186 fps.

What are you guys seeing on average? These seem a little extreme to me or am I wrong? I've heard some things about chrony brand chronographs not reading accurately and was wondering if it could be the problem. It would be fix that than the loads:p
