Hey,

I was wondering, are the AI and Versa spigots the same? From my understanding it is the exact opposite.

I am looking to mount an ATLAS to my Steyr SSG 08, and I'm trying to figure out my possible options... from front mounting

I can remove the Spigot from my Steyr SSG 08 with a Type 4 Push Pin if I must... but I'm not sure how the AI version would mount if it could even mount? My guess is no.

Does anybody know of any adapters out there? Or other possible options?

Any help or knowledge would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
- Koshy

Re: Versapod Spigot Versus AI Spigot?? Same??

AI is a reverse of the Parker Hale of which the Versa-Pod is a clone.

AI mounts with a male spigot on the bipod going into a female receptical within the stock.

PH/Versa-Pod has the female on the bipod and a stud is usualy installed within the stock or within a handstop.

Versa does make an AI adapter that is a double male.

Maybe I will take the Spigot out and take some pictures so that I can see how it compares to AI, so I figure this bloody thing out because right now I'm not sure the difference =/

Now if I knew where I could buy a Pin Punch 4....

Wouldnt that work? </div></div>

It does, and that should work, but shouldn't I use the forward spigot if possible? Isn't the concept... lower... better center of balance, etc?

Can't find a 4mm pin punch anywhere around here -.-

Thanks,

Forward and low will be more stable but thousands of shooters run the Harris in the same position with no problem.

More than one way to skin a critter, what I suggested was simply an easy fix not an end all solution. I think most of what you may be looking at would require some heavy modifications to either your stock or your bipod...may not be worth the hassle.

I totally get you. The only thing I can think of that would be quick and easy is getting the AI version and boring the proper hole in the spigot at the proper distance and then just using the push pin method. But I would need to remove the Spigot first from the Steyr and see how similar they are.

Chances are I will simply remove the spigot plug the hole (keep dirt out) and run it under the rifle via the rail.

But thanks anyway Anchor!
