25 meters is not a zero (warning: rant) - M14 Forum
Is there any one around here that remembers this? Or 900 " for M14.

What I posted there was a question about the 27.77 number in a mil dot formula and messing around with a calculator and finding out 1000 inches is 27.77 yards.l remember the course .
But never under stood the why or reason..
Who ever designed and figured out the sights must have been genius.
I do remember it being a mechanical zero..
thx

If I remember correctly, and I'm old sooo.... We had 1k inch range but it was used to get 300 bzo. Fairly certain it had nothing to do with relation to mils or yards. It was basically to replicate the 300 meter range so you could set elevation to match and get a generic dope going.
