**Video** 6.5 Creedmoor 136gr Lapua Scenar 1,500 yards.

It was switching between 9 and 7 o'clock but was gusting from 12-22mph. My impact I was holding 2.5 mils.

Nice shooting! The 136 Scenar sure is nice - from up close to extended distances. What BC did you use?

After shooting with a friend that has a 6.5-284 I am now sold on its performance for paper out to 1200 and animals out to 500. The Creedmoor is really something as well. I always hear the 6.5 has the same ballistics as the 300 win mag but that is not really true. It may have a very similar trajectory but the terminal ballistics are somewhat different. I was amazed to see the drops at 1200 yards and the wind drift similarities. An 11% 10 mph wind call difference at 1200 yards and very similar drops between a 140gr 6.5 at 2960 versus a 215gr .308 at 2860. Energy differences at 1200 come out to a 42% advantage with the 300. The 6.5 stays supersonic to 1550 which is more than I expected. The 300 is supersonic until 1650. Barrel and brass life is similar with both. Even with a 17 mph wind the 6.5 gives 12.7 MOA vs 11.2 with the 300. At 1500 yards with a 17 mph wind, the 6.5 shows a 17.8 wind correction versus 15.5 with the 300. At one mile, the 6.5 gives 322 ft/lbs versus 544 ft/lbs with the 300. I wonder why it took the US so long to adopt the 6.5's. Another consideration is, what other combinations have we not put into practice? If manufactures would come out with a good 180 gr .277 bullet that could be loaded into a 7mm mag case I think that would be impressive.
