I inherited a Redfield scope 4-12 appears to be 40mm, Variable objective lense. Optics look good. Based on the attached photos, could anyone provide info as to when Thais might have been manufactured and any other helpful info?

Looks to be from the late 80's early 90's. Redfield Denver went out of business in 1998. The founder of Burris Optics (Don Burris) was an engineer there.

If you have any issues with it needing repairs you're out of luck. Current Redfield is now owned by Leupold and they won't repair them.

That looks a LOT like a 3-9 my grandfather had way back in the 70's. I'd be willing to bet it may be older than late 80's, but only based on previous Redfield scopes I've seen.

One of the Denver Redfields.

Good scopes (have had several over the years).

You did not say what reticle, but they were available in crosshair, post, ranging reticles, IIRC.

The Denver Redfields tend to have good glass and finish. One of the better scopes back then.

IMO better than many made currently.

For repair of Redfield scopes, suggest checking with Iron Sight (I've had them work on Unertl scopes, and they do work on Redfields also)--

I have three of the Redfield scopes like the 4x12 pictured, that I purchased at Redfield Denver in 1970. Mine are a 3x9 Variable low profile 4PLEX # 112606; a 4x 4 Plex item # 135006; and a 4x-12x Variable AR 4 Plex item # 119016, which has the built in ACCU-RANGE Rangefinder. I did not use them because I started using Leupold scopes. I also have a Redfield 20x-60x spotting scope which still works great. It is like a telescope , withou the angled viewfinder. The Redfield scopes were excellent quality.

My last 4-12 Redfield had a fine crosshair, good scope, used it on a .22LR (M52C Winchesterr) for awhile
