I know that Leupold purchased the Redfield name a while back, but does anyone know if they service vintage Redfield scopes? Have an old one sitting on top of a Pre-64 that I don't want to replace but needs some TLC.

If not Leupold is there anywhere else that a person can send the scope to be serviced? Or at least inspected to see if it can be repaired?

No they don't, but I think there is a company called Iron Sight or something that will service them. I think there is also another one that I can't remember the name of right now. I will see if I can find the link for the Iron Sight one and post back.

Re: Vintage Redfield rebuilds?

Hey, this rocks. I had no idea you could do this. My step-dad just handed me an R700 .270 with an older (mid-late 80's) 3-9 Redfield. He expressed concerns that the O-rings may have dried out and the nitrogen leaking out. I want to take it mulie hunting this season so I guess I better find out. Do you guys think if I were to put it in the bathroom with a lot of steam from the shower, that it would fog if the Nitrogen was gone? Maybe run a test like this? Thanks for the help.
