I'm not sure this post belongs in this exact forum but it is a scope question more or less.

Does anybody know a source to restore or at least clean the internals of an old rimfire scope? I know I could by a much better scope, but this has extreme sentimental value to me. I believe it's an early Weaver, about 1/2" in diameter. It's dirty; but in daylight it's still pretty bright considering the age (I'm guessing 40's or 50's). I shudder to understand how the mounting system works for Az/El adjustment since that's built into the base.

Just thinking of if it would be cool to have it restored or if it's a pipe dream.

Thanks for any sources.

A $100 and 90-day turnaround is not unreasonable for cleaning the internals. Sounds like the complete refurbish gets polished and blued. Compared to some other scope doctors that take a year (or more), Vintage Gunscopes sounds pretty decent.

I’d looked at them but didn’t know if anybody had experience with them. But they do seem to have some nice older scopes for sale that have been refurbished.

You never know what you're going to learn on a day-to-day basis on this place! I received my first Weaver scope (an A2.8 with post reticule) when I was a freshman in high school in 1964, and bought several more K4s & K6s in the early '70s. Always had good experiences with them. Good to see a company that restores them to better-than-new condition...
