Rifle Scopes Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

Re: Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

there's a tactical scope on the horizon but details have been hush hush

Re: Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

Maybe Scott @ Liberty Optics will chime in with an update on the new Vortex Tactical.

He, as well as others that viewed the prototype at SHOT a couple months ago were very complimentary. Back then, I got the impression it was going to be introduced around mid-year, or perhaps just before. I'm waiting as well.

Scott... you there? Any news?

Re: Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

I got recent assurance the Razor Tactical scope is on track for June/July release, no problem. The Viper series wil have mildot reticles in the long range scopes come May.

Re: Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

jeffersonv,

Vortex is slowly introducing a Razor series of products. One of these is the Razor Tactical scope... another is the Razor HD Spotting Scope Doug mentions above.

The spotter is a new high end product Vortex is trying to position to play with the big boys. The Spotting Scope is just being introduced a few months before the Tactical Scope.

Clear as mud, eh!

Re: Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

That Vortex Razor spotting scope sounds very nice. I am comparing to the Kowa TSN663 ED.

Re: Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

I was also told they're introducing a new true 1-4x at the NRA convention. I'm keeping an eye out for this one.

What happened to the 1-4?

Re: Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

I'm watching for 1-4 and 1.5-6 scopes. preferably mil/mil. I'm thrilled with my current vortex viper and wouldn't hesitate to pick another if they make something that fits my needs.

Re: Vortex Optics... Any new models due?

Having been in this industry the better part of my life I have learned to not guesstimate release dates. The list I posted were from a firm announcement from Vortex and is a realistic projection. Until they get confirmation on the other products in the pipeline any expected date of delivery would be ify at best.
Looking over some recent and not so recent "projected delivery dates" in the industry...
Leica's Riflescopes and Spotting Scopes
Swarovski's new EL line
Nikon's new EDG Spotting Scopes
Some of these items we have been waiting a couple of years for since they were "on the way".

Updated info:
Coming (but no definitive arrival date):

1-4x24 - First Focal Plane, illuminated, 30mm tube, true 1X magnification, unique combination of CQB & ranging reticles - $1K +

5-20x50 - First Focal Plane, illuminated, 35mm tube, built-in zero stop, >100 MOA travel, MOA/MOA and Mil/Mil versions - $1.5K+

These 2 models will be released later this year with more models to come in 2010.
As I mentioned above, if all goes well these'll be released (or at least announced) in the next few months, however, experiance says to expect a later release date and be happy when they come before you expect them to.

As soon as we get some realistic "firm" delivery info from Vortex we will let you know. Until then it's really guess work.
