Thinking about picking up a Razor HD Gen II 3-18x50 for my Seekins SP-10. Doesn’t seem to be a lot of posts about the 3-18x50. Anyone running one of these on an AR platform? How does it stack compared to the 4.5-27x56? Should I spend the extra coin and get the 4.5-27x56? Most of my range work is 100-600yds.

The extra power of the 4.5-27x56 would be handy if you want to be able to resolve details of distant targets in ideal viewing conditions. For what you are doing the 3-18 sounds perfect. For me I would rather have a scope that goes down to 3X on a gun that I am going to shoot offhand.

I like the 3-18. Smaller objective than the 4.5-27 which allows lower rings. I have a 3-18 Genll moa and a Nightforce Mount made for a flat top that I’m looking to move. Hit me up if you are interested.

I think you hear less about the 3-18 because the weight and price difference are pretty negligible with the 4.5-27.

Since your range is 600yds, if you qualify for the LE/Mil discount, the Leupold Mk 5 3.6-18x44 would be a very appealing choice and come in substantially cheaper depending on reticle choice.

I run a 3-18 on my AI, and have the 4.5-27 on another bolt gun. The 3-18 is a great scope, but like mentioned, because of the minimal cost and weight difference, it doesn't get as much love.

That being said, it won't hold you back at all. I have used mine out to 1260yds and it wasn't an issue, so for your listed ranges I think you'll be just fine.

I have several 3-18's on 308's and it ends up being about perfect. More than enough magnification for the 308; rarely go above 12-15 anyways when in the field. I save the 4.5 x 27 for the Creedmoors for shooting long range - beyond 1200.

The Razor II 3-18x scope is a very nice optic. I have one on my semi auto Creedmor and also use it on a bolt gun in matches. No issues seeing targets at matches out to 1250 yards. Also have used it on my .22 Vudoo as it has a lot of elevation to dial for the 300+ yard .22LR shots.

That said the 4.5-27x is also a great optic. Just power range differences and the 50vs56mm objective which shouldn;t effect mounting on an AR height mount. Can't really go wrong with either.

Some pics of 3-18x on rifles.

Fantastic optic!!! Had it on my SP10 6.5 cm. Just recently moved it to my 223 trainer. 5 shot group at 460yds with the 223 yesterday using the 3-18...
