Perhaps it would help others. Experience (based on recommendation from Vortex

) showed that:

[*]Butler Creek cap #43 fits 50mm objective - works for Vortex Razor HD as well (tested with sunshade). I conjecture it should fit PST as well (same objective size).[*]Butler Creek cap #20 fits Vortex Razor HD ocular (tested).[/list]

Mouse,

I need to get some of these. I remember there being some discussion a ways back about one size being too small for the objective and the other being to loose and the recommendation was to get the tight one and microwave it in water? I guess to heat it so it would fit? Did you run into this? How tight do yours fit?

The objective cap is a wee too small - but I put it over the sunshade without any assistance

- that includes no microwaving, no watering, no oiling. Just the gentle pressure of my small-sized hands.

Yes the fit is tight - which is the way I like it. Both caps (objective and ocular) held up very nicely against M118LR rounds (I must say quite unlike the original ones).

Scott just left here. He brought a 19, 20, 43 and 44. (What a great guy, huh? Home delivery. How much better can you get?

20 fits the ocular. Just a smidge loose for my tastes. I didn't even try the 19 , that's how close the 20 is.

Of the 43 and the 44 for the objective, the 43 is the better choice unless you like to look around for your lens covers. I could get the 43 on about halfway and then no more, so I soaked it in hot water and it went on with a little persuasion. It will NEVER fall off.

A 43.5 would have been ideal.

I like the Razor so far. It is one tough, robust scope. I've already dropped the rifle on some rocks (enough to gouge the barrel!) and it held its zero. That seems to be where Vortex put their money in this model. I would expect that this scope will be dialing accurately for a long time.

The glass is OK. The eyebox is pretty sensitive to placement. Some red CA when off center.

But it has a TON of travel. The reticle is great for center mass shooting, but not something you want to try to shot .1's with. A little thick for that. The turret adjustments are very good. Good feedback. The elevation is better than the windage, but I'm pretty anal. We checked it at 100 yds and the adjustments are very close. Not Jon A close, but close enough for me. With just a little field data I made a cold bore hit center mass at 1500 yds on the first day out with it. I'm happy

For my needs there was no other choice under $3000. Pretty simple.

I like it very much - enough to order the second one for my 338 LM rifle (which coincidentally answers your second question

).

I don't concur with John regarding the reticle being too thick. I find EBR-2 just right thickness-wise, and its center spot is empty - that should help aiming at .1's

.

I must confess though that 960 m was the longest shot I took with it (so far

). So John has an advantage here.

Too late - I already did!
