I am looking at both of these scopes for a future purchase.Going Mil/Mil. How does the Vortex Razor HD rate against the Nightforce NXS in relation to clarity of optics,durability,tracking,ect.?

If you want something time/tested proven than NXS it is.
The razor has a few hiccups out of the gate. Hopefully it's a winner but I'll wait and let others get it's legs up before purchasing.

I have a Razor, and think it's a great rifle scope. It has every feature that I wanted, and the customer service is outstanding. I own a Schmidt and Bender 4-16, and have had the opportunity to shoot behind a Premier and Nightforce. All of them are great optics from great companies.

I like how tall the turret is. I'm not concerned about looks, I'm concerned about functionality. From prone, the turret is very easy to grip and adjust. The clicks are positive, and the zero stop (now that the kink was worked out) is dead on. Though I've not shot with gloved hands (It is rarely cold enough here in Houston), the Razor turret would seemingly be significantly easier to adjust.

The turret isn't that tall, I'll try to get some pictures and maybe measure it vs a Hensoldt to get you an idea of the difference.

The razor is a great weapon sight. I'd rate its functionality on par with my nightforce. Vortex customer service is second to none. Minor issues with the razor, as others have mentioned. Vortex is fixing them and sending new models out. I'll post back up when my new one shows up this week.

Plenty of great "looking" scopes have come along over the years only to disappoint as they were put into use. I'm not commenting at all on Vortex. Just pointing out that it takes a long long time to build a reputation such as "built like a tank," "indestructable," "unfailing turrets." New companies and products have to earn that distinction over time.
One question might be, "how much will I save by taking a chance on the new guy?" I did not see a price delta when checking prices, so I personally would stick with what I know works.

All right, as far as the tall turret goes, the Razor is 3/8" taller than a Hensoldt 4-16 from the surgeon 20 rail to the top of the turret. Both scopes are mounted in rings that are about as low as you can go for the scope.
Sadly, I didn't have an NXS to compare it to. Likely it will be lower still due to the 30mm tube. So maybe the Razor is 1/2" taller I'd guess. I'm not HSLD enough to care that much.
As far as the pricing, it depends on what you want. The FFP Razor can be found for just a little more than the SFP NXS, so if FFP is important to you than the Razor wins. The Razor is less expensive than the FFP NXS and has a few bonus features like 5x more power, easily adjustable illumination and I prefer its thicker reticle to the FFP MLR. However, no doubt, the NXS is the proven player in this game.
It's a tough call for sure. I got to spend a little time behind my Razor on Friday for the first time, no regrets so far.

My problem, among many other problems, is I don't have the scratch to buy a Razor to compare it to the only other "good" scope I own. I keep hoping someone will show up at the range with one, but as the financial depression deepens the area of the country I'm in is really hurting. The last thing most anyone is considering spending precious $$$ is a new scope.
