Vortex Solo R/T, Vortex Recce Pro HD, or Zeiss 10x25 with Electronic Rangefinder?

Hello all,

I have been trying to sort out a good solution that allows for observation and ranging without actually pointing a firearm down range. Lighter is better for sure and reliability is important. All ranging can be backed up via a reticle if absolutely needed.
Info for the options I am looking at:

Vortex Solo R/T:
Lens - 8x36
FOV - 7.5 degrees
Weight - 10.2oz
Price - $150

Vortex Recce Pro HD:
Lens - 8x32
FOV - 7.6 degrees
Weight - 11oz
Price - $400

Combo (Zeiss Mono and Kilo 4K for example)
Lens - 10x25 and 6x22
FOV - 5.1 degrees and 6.5 degrees
Weight - 3.1+7.5 = 10.6oz
Price - $400+$380 = $780

Cost, simplicity, and lens size all point to the Solo but, while I've seen many good reviews about it, I have seen reports on durability issues as well.

The Recce seems to be a nice middle ground with newer glass, close to the same POV, and maybe better quality?

Glass quality and easy ballistics calcs point towards the Zeiss and rangefinder combo.

If anyone has any thoughts or alternatives, I'd be happy to hear about them!

I forgot to add the use case for this to be paired with. I'm looking at anything from 1-6, 1-8, or 1-10 LPVOs or 2-10-ish MPVO with a dot on top of any of them on a 16" 223 Wylde and a variety of bolt guns for hunting or long-range shooting.

Yep, that's what they are made for and could serve the purpose for sure.

Sorry, I should have added, in a PRS context my Solo is worthless.

Depending on what thing you are ranging, and if said thing can detect lasers, the Solo or Recon may be of value.

Understood. It is not being used in a PRS context. I was less concerned about detection and more concerned about reliability, weight, and battery life, but that is a good point!
