What is the best mounting set up(rings and base) to mount on a remington 700 short action?

Depends on your barrel profile. With my heavier barrels, I use a 20 moa and Vortex Precision 1.1's and seems to work well. I have used this from time to time with pretty good success. http://www.mil-rad.com/scope_ring_calculator
