Rifle Scopes vortex viper PST 6-24x50 FFP windage turret

I just bought the subject scope and mounted it on my xbolt 7mm. The mounting went fairly well and I am fairly confident it isn't off by much. I used a laser boresighter to get even a little closer prior to sighting in at the range. The boresight confirmed the mounting was pretty good. Only a few adjustments were necessary to ensure when I got to the range I would be on paper and the process would be fairly quick.

I then took a closer look at my windage turret and noticed there was almost no room to adjust to the left. Just to see how much room I had to play with I started turning the turret and it stopped at 7MOA (28 clicks) adjustment left. To check I dialed all the way to the right stop and dialed a total of 65 MOA (260 clicks).

I dialed all the way back down to factory 0 and checked alignment again, still pretty close and dialed to the left and again stopped at 7 MOA.

Am I crazy? Or should the scope, from the factory come with 32MOA either side of factory 0? It seems pretty silly to me that I would only have 7MOA adjustment to the left and 58MOA to the right. Or am I missing something all together? This is the first high end scope I have used and might be missing something.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You know nothing until you shoot it. Bore sighters are to get you close and that's it. The bore sighter could be way off.

Ideally, the scopes optical center gives you equal right and left windage but you must remember Vortex didn't have your gun when they built the scope.
I've had a couple of guns that the scope base holes were drilled off center over the years. Back in the old days (still I guess) Redfield and Leupold made windage adjustable bases. That should have told us something.

Just relax in the fact that if there is actually something wrong with the scope itself, Vortex has legendary customer service and will make it right. I have that same scope on my rifle.

You say you dialed to factory 0. How did you determine what factory 0 is?

Andy, is this a new rifle or one from the safe? I only ask because I bought one of the browning xbolt 204 predator rifles a few months back and mounted a 4.5-14x42 E1 Burris on it with talley rings. When sighting in, I turned my windage knob to the left as far as it would go , literally. I had just started to get into the bull when it ran out of clicks.. I parted ways with the 204 and got me another predator in the fast twist 223. I then put the exact same scope and rings on it and had zero problems after. I have plenty of clicks either direction... I was relieved because I thought it was a faulty optic from Burris, thankfully it wasn't... The only thing I can think of was that maybe I got a dud from browning, maybe a bad barrel to action install or something not machined straight.. I would pull the optic and check everything and maybe try it on another proven rifle.. Hope this helps. Maybe some better answers out there..
