Hi, I'm looking for some good fast loads for my .308 using Vihtavuori N550 and 175SMK's in Winchester brass. I have been doing some OCW load development, seem to be coming out with nodes around 47gn and 49gn, and would like to see what others are running for comparison. Also it would be nice to know what velocity you get?

The rifle is a Rem 700 SPS-V 26", factory barrel with Armalon Muzzle Brake.

Thanks for the help.

JWEM,

Either one sounds about right, it depends on how long you are loading the round, and where you get pressure signs.

Cheers DocB, guess I'll just have to keep testing, until I see some pressure signs. I'm loading them to 2.810" (tip to base) as running an M1A/M14 mag.

Is VV N550 the wrong powder to be using with the 175SMK? I've seen load data on this forum with heaver bullets but none for the 175SMK.

No one else out there with any loads for me?

JWEM,

No, it's a good powder, just kind of expensive state-side. Folks tend to go with RL-17 since it is less expensive. I recently obtained a rifle with a 1/12 twist, and should do some testing with the 175s in the next couple of months. I think Monte may have used 550 with the 175s. He may chime in sooner or later.

Good luck,
