VVN 140, 150 & 540 in a 308 w/ high BC 168's and 169's

Thoughts from those who use one or more of these powders with the high BC 168 & 169 308 bullets. * Looking at the VVN data there is not a noticeable difference in velocity.
Got plenty of 140 I use in 223's and I tell myself just buy 1 # of the 150 & 540 and test all three.
Thoughts ?

N140 and N150 are great powders. Not known for speed, but good accuracy. I would guess the N140 would work regardless, but the n150 may need a little longer barrel to burn fully. Was going to test N140 (burnrate next to varget) here soon, i only have a 16in barrel. Varget has been the best powder i have found so far with the shorter barrel. I use the N140 in 223, and N150 in 6gt.

N140 will generate less velocity than N540 because it’s single base, but will also generate less heat. This is true across the N100 & N500 series, so if you’re shooting rapid strings of fire and don’t mind losing about 100-150fps, then N100 series is what you want.

I use N140 with 77gr bullets in .223REM, N150 with 175gr bullets in .308WIN, and N160 with 95 VLDs in 6mm Creedmoor semi autos with good results. N540 is also a good option for .308WIN shooting heavy bullets if you need that extra velocity and don’t mind the heat.

If you haven't purchased VV N150 by now I will sat that it is pretty temperature sensitive...as I'm seeing about 1 FPS per degree F change. N140 is definitely better in that regard.

However, I have a great load for N150 in one of my 6.5x47s, so I will continue to happily use it.

I've always been a Varget / IMR-4064 /Re-15 guy in the .308, regardless of bullet from 155 - 175gr.
