I was looking for a sub compact carry pistol today in 9mm. Almost picked up a Glock 26 but came across a Walther PPS. Its VERY thin. How does it compare with a Kahr? Any opinions? Pro's Cons?

Re: Walther PPS?

I have had the gammit for 9mm carry pieces. The kahr had some issues feeding certain ammo. It always bothered me, plus the warranty from the company when sending it in was a pain. The take down is a little bit of a pain compatred to a G26 or PPS.

The G26 has always been tried and true. Only issue is its a tad thick, and could not simply put it in a pocket or a think IWB holster. I carried alot of j-frames that I loved for summer carry.

Then came the PPS. Its thin, it has shot everything, points very well for me, and in terms of recoil, is more tame than the G26 in my opinion. I was amazed by that. The only downside it has are the mags are pricey, and a new PPS only comes with 1 mag. It comes apart like a Glock. Its right in the middle of the price range between a Kahr and Glock.

So for me at least in 9mm I've kept the G26, G17, G19, PPS, XD, and a few others, but mainly carry the PPS for thin carry, and I shoot it alot when I have the chance at the range.

So far the PPS has about 4k with no jams or FTF.

Re: Walther PPS?

I really like the PPS. The thin profile puts it ahead of the Glock for most carry methods.

I have 2, a First Edition from about 2 years ago and a current production. Trigger on the new gun is terrible while it is quite good on the older. I hope it is an issue with the one gun only.

Re: Walther PPS?

I have a PPS, its a great little gun. Recoil is very soft for such a small gun. There are two different disconnecters; standard and heavy. They are marked with an "S" or "H" I think most have the standard. The trigger pull is similar to a glock. Its actually pretty smooth, but the reset doesn't feel as quick.

Re: Walther PPS?

PPS for me too! I just use a little inside the pants holster. Just try a few and you'll find a fit. If not, you can order one from the S&W on line store. They have all the extras there.
I shot one before I bought it. When the target came back up range with a ragged group I was sold.
