A small subset of the nation's 3,000 sheriffs are claiming power not only to enforce the law, but also to be the ultimate arbiters of what the law is.

Unsurprising that this WaPo mouthpiece wants to remove any ability for LE to make their own determinations as to whether state and federal laws/limitations on a free people are constitutional. Goes so far as to suggest that Sheriff’s should be appointed instead of elected.
Apparently she believes it’s best if the people have no say in their local LE through the democratic process.
