First I would like to say thanks to Mike @ CSTactical for his help and excellent service, he really went the extra mile.
I had been looking for a mid-range scope to see what my Noveske 14.5" AR-15 could do with a magnified optic. After looking at all of the options in this sub-$1000 price range (Vortex PST, Bushnell Elites, etc.) I decided on the Weaver Tactical as it had been getting great reviews.
I grabbed some Hornady 55 gr V-Max polymer tipped ammo and took her to the range (they don't allow FMJ otherwise I would have used some heavier match ammo, but this works well).
Here is the reticle on the scope, has an open center in the middle of the crosshairs which helps getting centered on contrasting targets.
EMDR (Enhanced Mil-Dot Reticle)
Noveske N4 14.5"
VLTOR Monolothic Upper
Geissele SSA Trigger
Bobro Quick Disconnect 1 Piece Mount
Other stuff
What the gun looks like in it's red-dot form:
New Scope Mounted:
After zeroing at 100 Yards here are the results (3 shot groups):
Since I have a quick disconnect mount (Bobro) I took it off and remounted it a few times and checked the return to zero. The flier was my 3rd shot that I pulled.
Couple 50 yard groups for giggles:
Had some issues getting it zeroed (my fault) since I didn't buy a laser boresighter and wasted 20 rounds of ammo not even hitting paper before I used the iron sights and sand bags to get a point of aim and then mounted the scope back up and was able to get everything dialed in.
Glass quality is great and the eye relief makes it comfortable to shoot for extended periods of time. The lockable turrets are nice and when unlocked have a nice solid click.
Setting the zero is as easy as it gets, just unscrew the cap on the top of the turret and put it to zero.
As others with this scope have mentioned to lock the turrets again you have to "wiggle" it a bit to get it locked. Not the biggest deal but figured I would mention it.
I know this isn't the most thorough review, but I don't have all the equipment and fancy box test targets that some of you guys do so I can only comment on how it looks and feels.
Happy shooting
