    I needed a little getaway this weekend so I decided to go chase gristle missiles at the ranch. Friday afternoon I popped this big hog with my SBR, one shot, one kill. 55gr fmj believe it or not. I didn't have any bullets in my .308 or .243 when i saw him. All I had was my SBR in the front seat, but it worked great.

    The next morning I went to a feeder and set up a long shot. The hogs were there and gone before sun up. Right as it first got light this boar showed up and got shot in the ear with a 178gr Amax at 468yds according to my Leica 1000.

    Found this little guy by the feeder when i went to get the second hog.

    This deer showed up at the feeder too. He's young, but if it was rifle season, I would have had a hard time passing him up. 12-13" G2s and MASSIVE.

    It was a great weekend and a much needed break.

    Obviously you must have had the sun in your eyes. I have learned on the net that;
    1. A 5.56 is not a large enough round to kill a pig (they have evolved steel ribs, my buddy has a picture of one)
    2. Running a shortened barrel degrades the effectiveness of the round to near .22 LR levels.
    3. That's not an SBR, I see the lens sticking out of the hand guards, that is an illegal, unethical ray gun, I'M TELLING!

    Looks like fun, I need to kill something, these politicians are making me crazy!

    I honestly think someone forgot to tell that hog that a .223 couldn't kill him.

    I've killed hundreds of pigs with a .223 but most of the time it has been with a 75gr OTM or 64gr soft point. I was actually a little surprised myself that the 55gr Hornady fmj put him down with such authority.

    Can't believe it went through that hogs adimantium infused shoulder! but seriously, the 5.56 has been my main bacon maker for a while now, and I've never had an issue with it. Good shooting and may you get many, many, many more.

    Good stuff, I guess my .358 win may be overkill. It is a short mauser set up for light weight packing out west but has really worked well in the North Carolina woods.

    I must look into an SBR M-4 ammo would be cheaper.

    shoot strait!

    Good stuff! This thread reminds me I need to get in a piggy hunt one of these days
