Can someone that has a RCBS 505 weigh the scale pan and Scale pan support and tell me what the combined weight is.

I have a scale that is missing the counter weights in the pan support and would like to have idea how much lead tape to add to the pan support to get it to zero.

Thanks

Terry

Re: Weight of Scale pan and scale pan support

you know you could set the scale at zero and add weight to the pan until it zeros. Empty the weight into a separate container. then do it again until it is zero and add the initial zeroing weight and bada bing bada boom there is your weight.

Axeman,

Thanks man! 27.9g on the DI MXX-123 scale with 7 1/2 lead shot zero'd that scale perfect!

Thanks for all the help! Took me awhile to find my shot! Have not been shooting trap and put all the shotgun stuff in the back!

no prob. i was thinking the same as mechanic. but since it was all handy it was easier to weigh it than to type out what i was thinking, lol. glad your up and running

Hi Terry
Iv'e found that no two pans/hangers are the same weight. When starting from scratch I set the adjusting zero screw at about half way then hang the pan and hanger assembly on the hook with no weights in the weight box. Then I use thin electrical solder for the weight. Cut off about a foot and coil it up and put it in the pan. If its too heavy chop a bit of or add a bit. When you have it about right put it all in the weight box and screw on the lid you will then be able to trim it with the zero screw.

Yeah 1066, that is pretty much what I did! Except I used 7 1/2 lead shot from my stash of shotgun supplies. Just kept dropping pellets into the pan until it zero'd itself. Unscrewed the pan and put the pellets into the cavity and screwed it back together!
