I’ve got a Savage Mark ii FV, EGW 20 MOA rail, Vortex medium rings and a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 FFP scope.
I’ve zeroed it at 100yds and have 45 moa of up elevations and 50 moa down.

What did I do wrong? I don’t think I should be at close to optical zero with a 20 MOA base.

I’ve checked the rail and the larger portion is in the back with the small in the front.

Should I get the Burris XTR rings and call it a day? EGW 40 MOA rail? Other ideas to fix other than purchasing something?

get a set of Burris XTR signature rings. They have up to 40 moa in the rings. That would get down to 10 moa down.

This is the easy solution that I was thinking!!
However, does the zero close to the optical center with the 20MOA rail seem off?

20moa rail at 100yd zero, sounds about right. 7moa to get to 100y from a 25yd zero. And you have also scope height above bore to deal with too.
