I went ahead and ordered a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 mil-dot from Midway today for $299. I have shopped around and read tons of reviews on other budget scopes and this one seems to be the best choice. It has the options i'm looking for and though its a little more than I really wanted to spend in these trying times, I figured I would follow the old saying, "buy once, cry once". I know its not a NF or USO but its a really good scope that I can take to the range and punch paper out to 5-600 yards and maybe try my hand at a 1000yd shot here and there.

You will be happy with that scope, and you got it for a good price. I had the same one in 4-14x and I paid $299. It's a really good scope for the money, zero complaints.

Forgot to ask, did you get the free Mil-Dot Master coupon with that deal? If so, send it in with the $5 for shipping and handling. It's worth every penny, works really well.

I have no idea. I just bought it online at Midway. I didnt see anything about it. It would definately be cool if I do get it. I have read up on the Mil-dot Master and I think its a useful tool for someone wanting to learn the calculations.

Re: Well I Couldn't Help Myself....

That's the beauty of it. It pretty much does the calculations for you, very simple to use. You just look at the target through the scope...say for example a tire on a truck and you know that tire is 31" tall. Then you measure how many mills tall it is in the scope, and just slide the Mil-dot master to the right spot and blam you know the approximate distance.

Just look for a coupon in the box. If it doesn't have one then just buy one trust me. One thing I like to do for practice is I try to figure out the distance with the scope and MDM, then I use Google Earth to confirm. You will be surprised how fast and accurate it really can be.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up about it. I will check the package when it arrives. Now you got me even more excited LOL.

BTW. Its going on a Remmy 700 LTR .308 that I got on a straight up trade for a Century Arms Cetme.
