Well, now I’m realizing I’m even older than when I realized I was old.

I’ve commented in the past that I knew I’d gotten old in 2002 when I spent more on 2 tickets to see The Eagles in Knoxville than I did on all the tickets and weed I bought in the summer of ‘76 (and that included Skynyrd, CDB, Marshall Tucker, Outlaws, Frampton, Gary Wright and a few others). For reference, tickets I the 70s were $6-$14 in the Savannah Civic Center(and weed was $20 an Oz)

I’ve made my teenage sons real fans of the music of the 70s-90s, games of “Name the Artist and Song” are a regular part of out driving, and they are good at it, and both are Rush fans.

I learned this past week that Rush is touring in ‘26 with Anika Nilles on drums. They’d love going to see Rush, even w/o NP, so I went to the 26 tour website to look into tickets in Toronto (closest to us, and really it is Rush, Toronto would be the right place)

HOLY CRAP! Nosebleed seats are $465ea, the floor is $2k+. Who pays that for a concert? At least with Rush they can reliably be expected to be actually singing and not using a backing track, but come on. Us poors aren’t gonna get to that show.

Same kind of story here but with Alan Jackson’s farewell tour next year. Brokers are looking for $600 a ticket. I don’t even think a venue ticket is available yet. They are ruining concert experiences for most folks.

Oh yeah - big show tickets can easily go for 4 figures. We have season tix to a couple of NFL teams. With that I get offered presale seats to any concerts at the stadiums. I buy quite a bit them for bands I have no desire to see and sell them on StubHub or other broker websites for a nice profit.

    Making capitalism great again!!

Half past forever since I have been to a concert. I mean, we have seen local shows and festivals and music series. Most of those are free. Last actual ticketed event I can remember, which will also make old is some tickets I won from local radio station KZPS.

The main event was Bad Company with the favorite line-up back together with Paul Rogers.

The opener was David Lee Roth. Even at the age of 45 then (20 something years ago,) he was still quite acrobatic.

And of course, most memorable was in 1997 getting press kit from a friend who worked at the Dallas Morning News. VIP parking at what was then the Coca Cola Starplex. Ice House pass. 13th row, center stage to see Ted Nugent. I had brought ear plugs and very glad I did.

That morning, he was to autograph his books at the Barnes & Noble at Lovers Lane and Greenville Avenue. But he had to have an emergency root canal that morning and the novacaine would have been embarrassing. But he promised to come back another time on his own dime and he did. So, I still have autographed copies of "God, Guns, and Rock and Roll" and his cookbook, "Kill it and grill it!"

Last show I went to was the Dead's Fare Thee Well at Soldier Field in Chicago. on the 4th and 5th of July 2014. Great shows, I think I paid $75 per night for double nosebleed seats, well worth it. I considered going to the Further or what ever they're calling in now at the Sphere in Las Vegas. I think tickets started at $400 or so. Hard Pass.

It's Dead & Company and the $400 a seat at the Sphere is totally worth it!!!

I regret not getting to go to the last shows in LA. I made sure I didn’t miss buffet in Vegas and paid through the nose. But I’m glad I did.
No way I’m paying these prices unless they bring NP back from the dead (RIP Professor).

I almost paid good money for Dwight Yoakam and the mavericks only to find out Raul Malo has cancer and now Los Lobos is replacing them. Who pays for Los lobos tix these days?!
