What case for your Sako TRG?

Re: What case for your Sako TRG?

Storm Case iM3300. Interior storage area 50.50" x 14.00" x 6.00".

The TRG42's LOA w/ a 27" barrel is 47.25". Do not believe LOA includes length of the 3-chamber muzzle brake. Even so, rifle should not exceed a 50" LOA with the muzzle brake affixed to the barrel.

My TRG42 arrives this week. Will advise if the rifle fits into my existing Storm Case iM3300.

Thanks. What do those storm cases go for? OK, just found some, and around $200.00. That is a little more reasonable.

Re: What case for your Sako TRG?

$200 is an excellent price. Check to see if the case comes with foam at that price.

FWIW, you might want to consider procuring a "soft bag" insert for the Storm Case, in lieu of the standard foam. Why? The soft bag will allows transport configuration to multiple rifles. Case in point {pun intended}. Say you customize (cut)the standard foam to accept your TRG with it's scope, etc. Sure it looks all tacti-cool but then if you want to use the Storm Case to transport, for example, a Remington 700 .308 you will have plenty of "free space" in the case.

My SC iM3300 has the standard foam. Learned about the soft bag insert after initial procurement. In the future, will be procuring the "soft bag" to go inside the case. Then, will be able to xport my TRG42 and 85 Grey Wolf. ** Form follows function **

Josh, not really, however the rifle will be used for hunting a lot and I just want to feel OK about just tossing the case in my truck and not worry about about it. I am usually fully loaded up when I head to my hunting club each weekend, and I don't want to baby the soft case.

Euro-Optic has them for $350 on their website. About $19 less than what they sell them for on gunbroker. Sportman's Guide has all kinds of hard cases for reasonable cash. They have one for around $60 that's 53" long and has plenty of width and depth. I was going to get it myself until I found an old softcase that fit the rig (including brake). Just lucky I guess, but after shelling out 5 G's another $350 seemed a bit much.
