Ok, I'm aware that the answer is most likely going to be moisture.
I decided it was time to shoot some of this ammo I had for a while, noticed some exterior corrosion. This has been stored in an ammo can, with some other ammo that was not affected, since new, with dessicant.
I gave them a quick hand cleaning to remove what was visible. then each case that I fired split, without any ill effects, thankfully. This gave me good reason to dig into my ammo and make certain I didn't have a bigger problem. What I have found is 4 boxes of the same lot number have the same indications of corrosion on the outside. The rest of the ammo that was stored with it was of the same brand purchased at the same time but of different lot numbers. The only ammo that looks questionable is of the one particular lot number.
I recently acquired a bullet puller and decided to open one of the questionable rounds. Below are the pictures of what I found.

I've gone through other ammo, typically older surplus, that had some surface corrosion that functioned and performed as it should have. I was not expecting to find more corrosion on the inside than on the outside.
Any insight to what may have caused this would be greatly appreciated.
