My qualifications were I wanted the best(requested 36+/72+/2600+) and didn't mind a long wait, recent events motivated me to finally pull the trigger on NVGs, firmly in the buy once cry once camp and this is what i got:

L3 WP 11769UW-EA-C001-22UM/1188 tubes (BNVD-UL housing):

Photo cathode: 2160/2291
EBI: .4/.3
Luminance Gain: 63760/67630
SNR: 32.6/32.7
Center Resolution: 72/72
Halo: .7/.8
FOM: 2347/2354

You did very respectable. The EBI is awesome. All the other specs are very good as well. All combined into a BNVD UL makes it a super nice unit.

The BNVD UL is IMHO the best dedicated housing out there bar none and NVD is an exceptionally solid company so you are dealing with excellent people.

Congrats and Enjoy.

You like these more than the DTNVG? I’ve only played with the DTNVG, and was a big fan. What do you like about the bnvd-ul over the dtnvg?

Well I actually prefer 2 PVS 14's on a Mod Armory Bridge for a lot of specialized reasons that a dedicated Bino just cannot fill the role.

However, if I you made me buy a dedicated Bino system it would most certainly be the BNVD UL over the DTNVG.

1. The BNVD UL is lighter than the current DTNVG.

2. The BNVD UL is made by a US company versus overseas.

3. The BNVD UL has real Lanyard Points versus the DTNVG does not. Now who in they right mind would not have correctly positioned lanyard anchor point made onto a NV head mounted system? It looks pretty "red neck" engineered the Zip Ties and other home brewed solutions to putting a lanyard on a high end Bino system that I have seen people rig up on them. That just don't sit right with me.

4. Now for the most important. Look carefully at the center of the DTNVG and you will see the frame forms a deep Vee in the middle, whereas the BNVD UL is cleaner in the center area. That becomes more important if you are just rotating up one of the Pods and getting down on a Thermal Weapon Sight. Less clashing of the NODS with the TWS.

So it is my understanding the Act In Black is coming up with a DTNVG "Small" version which is supposed to address some of the issues I listed above.

However, all of the above being said the DTNVG is not a bad system, I just would prefer the BNVD UL over it if you beat me over the head and made me go with a dedicated Bino system.

I have a set being made now.

All of my experience is from flying with ANVIS goggles. I also ordered high quality although, I am not exactly sure what the specs are.

I figure buy once, cry once as well. I don't want to be disappointed as I am probably an NVG snob.

Right on thanks for the response!
