Just picked up an FN SPR A1 w/20 inch fluted, with Leupold Mark 4 (4.5-14x50 illuminated mil-dot reticle) and Harris bipod mounted. Thus I got the packaging for the FN but not the Leupold. What is Leupold's recommended magnification setting for use in milling (since it is not a FFP scope). Thanks.

The current production Mark 4 optics use max manification (14x in your case) for MILRADIAN use.
Older models used 10X.

Most Leupold scopes are designed to mil on the highest magnification setting.
And sometimes that magnification setting is not correct - I have seen scopes where the highest power was not high enough to make the reticle measure correctly. It would be a good idea to check it.

Best way to check is to setup a mil grid at 100 yards, i.e. a grid with 3.6" squares printed by a copmuter and use that to see when the mil-dots line up.
Laser the distance with a good quality rangefinder or measure it out with a 100 foot tape measure (3 times) and use a computer to draw the lines.
But like the other folks said, most Leupolds are calibrated at the highest power.

On a scope with 10 mils of marks, it's actually easier to use two orange Shoot'N'C dots placed 36 inches apart at 100 yards to check the power calibration.
