What is needed to convert an MWS to a UBR stock?

I am considering replacing the factory SOPMOD stock on my LMT MWS with a Magpul UBR.

What all is needed for this conversion in addition to the stock itself? Spring and buffer or can I use the factory ones?

Thanks.

UBR uses Carbine length Spring and Buffer. you should be good to go. just swap the parts...

When you take the castle nut off, watch out for the Detent spring that holds your take down pins in place. it has a tendency to go flying across the room.

Good to know. I'm familiar with using the UBR on standard 5.56 AR rifles, but I see talk of heavier buffers, etc and wanted to ensure I wasn't missing anything.

I also believe the rear take down detent and spring is retained by the pistol grip on the MWS and not by the end plate as with 5.56 AR's.

Lucky guy, I've been waiting forever for my MWS. Hey, I think you will be good as is, I just wanted to give you my experience. I had a JP LRP 07 (which I sold to get the MWS) and I swapped the fixed stock for a UBR. I will do it again for the MWS-I love the solid cheek weld of that stock.

Hey, so here's what I did. The UBR comes with its own receiver extension tube, so no issues there. I used an H2 buffer at first, and the gun would run, but it would not lock back. For some reason, the buffer was just a bit too long. I did some research and found out that people were selling AR10 specific buffers. So, I ordered mine from heavybuffers.com. The gentleman who runs that store makes AR 10 specific buffers constructed of quality stainless steel and they have heavy tungsten weights inside. I also ordered the spring that he recommends for the application and my JP was soft shooting, and ran like a champ.

SO, as soon as I get word that my slick-sided MWS is in transit, I will order another UBR, and a Spring and Buffer combo from Slash (heavybuffers.com). But ultimately, you should be good to go because your come will come with the correct parts, from the factory. Enjoy.
