What is the definition of a rifles accuracy?

Can the accuracy of a rifle be determined by.........
a 3 shot group?
a 5 shot group
a 10 shot group?

Seems to be a lot of 3 shot groupers out there.

I go for 5 shot groups on my hunting rifles but on my F-T/R rig I use 10 shots to determine load accuracy.

What is best?

I suppose that way you will always get a one hole group! LoL.

I know that's not what you would expect to hear but it really stands to reason. Now, if you want to know how good the shooter is, that's a different story. But you're right about the "one hole group" thing! LOL!

Re: What is the definition of rifle accuracy?

Here are my own personal, unvalidated thoughts on accuracy. It is certainly open to modification from input from others.

3 shots is an indication of the rifle.

5 shot consistant groups is more an indication of the rifle/shooter combo.

I like bughole groups just as much as the next guy but I think that CBS and how far the hits are off from my aiming point are at least equally if not more important.
