I’m curious what the pros and cons are of the different barrels lengths in the Barrett. My instincts tell me I’d like something a little more maneuverable and I’m not really considering it for a real precision application. Mostly it’s a “just to have it, just in case” type purchase.

50 in a Desert Tech seems punishing due to the weight. Think I would probably go with a heavier bolt gun 50 if possible, even if a shorter barrel. AI showcased their ELR slated for this year in 50bmg with a quick change setup. Could easily have someone spin up a shorter barrel, though I wouldn't.

I bought the 29 inch barreled Barrett 99 based solely off looks. IIRC, the 29 inch barrel actually costs more than the 32 inch one but only by a few hundred bucks. It shoots good, well it did the last time I pulled the trigger on it many moons ago.

Get the longest barrel you can on it.
The innards of your skull will thank you.
Yeah that’s one of the downsides I was wondering about. Am I going to get retinal detachments shooting the 20” from my eyeballs getting squished by the pressure?

If getting a 82A1 get the CQ 20", it has the chrome lined barrel, the 29" barrel does not. It is lighter and more maneuverable, too. It'll definitely have more blast and the velocity will be lower but that isn't much of an issue on a rifle that's already 2-3 moa on a good day lol. If you have the funds get the 107 and pick up the can for it, it's a better gun. There was one in the classifieds here just a few weeks back for $9K, not bad at all.
