Looked high and low here on the hide for some different loads for the AR10. Found a few but not really what my stick likes.
I had some really good luck with the FGMM 175's but have not been able to dupulicate the load. Other than that I have have my best luck with SMK 168 with 45.8g of Varget 2.810 oal.

BTW my AR10 has a 20" barrel, 1-10 twist.

Re: What loads are you runnin in your AR10?

44.5 grains of Varget
168 grain Nosler HPBT
BR2/GM210M Primer
Win/BHA/Hornady brass.
2.810 COAL

Mine is an AR10A4, with a stepped barrel and collapsible stock; I was stunned to find it so accurate with this load that I only tried as I had it on hand for the bolt guns I was shooting that day. It has since frequently been as good as 3/4 moa, or a little better, at 100 yards.

Armalite's literature says it should be 1.5 - 2.00 MOA.

I need to play with it more of course, but that is my best load in that rifle to date.

Re: What loads are you runnin in your AR10?

I can give you exact info, as I tested this today on a Larue OBR with a 20 inch barrel.

GBMaryland Plinking Loads (M118LR clone using Varget)

175Gr SMK, 42.5gr Varget, LC 07 LR Brass [trimmed, not weighed], magazine length (2.786)

[Not even remote pressure signs.]

String 1 - 9 Shots:

Low: 2548.41(ft/sec)
High: 2567.87
Adv: 2558.00
Variation: 19.46 (ft/sec)
SD: 7.21

1: 2553.79
2: 2558.65
3: 2553.25
4: 2567.87
5: 2564.61
6: 2564.07
7: 2548.41
8: 2562.44
9: 2548.95

To answer your accuracy question... I had a few groups that were between 1/2 and 1 inch today. 4 and 5 shots respectively with the load above @ 100 yards.

Didn't measure the 5 shot group, but you couldn't have gotten your thumb in the hole. Tested at 100, 200, and 300. Hit 12x12, 8 inch round, 6x6 and 3" round at 100. 5 inch round, and 3 inch round at 200. 6x6 and 3x3 at 300. Then went to chrono and shot the group mentioned above at 2637fps.

Yeap! I was 2466 with 2.8 COAL, groups were about an inch. When I went to 2.78COAL groups tighted and it was about 15fps faster. 18" barrel. Great load and the brass lasts forever.

Generally it shoots MOA with either load, but it is capable of much better. AMAX's have been very consistent for me at mag or shorter length while the SMK's were only accurate at 2.81-2.82 and with very hot or very soft loads. Have not tried scenars but there was a guy posting 155 scenar loads out of a noveske in the reloading depot 308 thread, and another guy posted up some really nice groups w/185 scenar out of a dpms sass.
