So I got a savage 17hmr and am planning on ordering a DIP base for it. They have a zero degree and a 25 degree base. I want to zero the rifle at 50 yards for hunting but I will also be shooting 200-300yrds for practice in substitution of my long range rig. I will be using a good quality 30mm scope. Will I have enough elevation to zero at 300 with the fault base? Will the 25 degree base zero at 50? Suggestions?

the optic (just about any optic) should zero at 50 with 25moa base as well as rezeroing for 200/300 without any issues, unless for some reason you are going to run very high rings with it.
