I have a mid-90s vintage Remington 700 VSSF in 308. It's a decent rifle, but nothing special. On the plus side, it's got the old style trigger that has been tuned down nicely. The HS Precision stock isn't bad for a hunting stock. Basically, I don't shoot it much anymore because I have plenty of other 308s. TRG-22, 700P, LRP-07, M1A.
With what I already have, I don't feel like turning this into another heavy rifle, but I would consider a new barrel in a different chambering if it makes sense. Think in terms of an accurate hunting rifle, not a full on tactical conversion.
What makes the most sense with a short action and 308 bolt face?
Thanks
