So pretty much everything from Hodgegon is impossible go get. H335, H4350, Varget, H4891...all impossible to get. RL-15, impossible to get. So what makes a decent ACCURATE .223 Load thats available? Anything from Ramshot? VihtaVuori?

How about AA 2230 works great for me with several Bullet weights, also AA 2520 for the heavy bullets.

N140. I just got 32 pounds. I have used both N140 and RL-15. Settled on RL-15 as I saw no performance difference, but RL-15 was cheeper.

Ramshot Tac is a pretty good powder for the .223. I have used it with good results with bullets ranging from 52 - 77gr.

Re: What powder is in stock and is good for .223?

I use 24 grains Ramshot TAC with 75 BTHP and get 2800 fps in my 20" barrel ar-15.

Re: What powder is in stock and is good for .223?

Just working up some loads today using TAC and 50gr Vmax. Got two five shot groups right at 1/2" with it. I have 16lbs of it so will be sticking with it for awhile.

Take care,Stan

Re: What powder is in stock and is good for .223?

I have used Winchester 748 in my .223 loads for 7 or 8 years without any problems . Just picked up an 8 pound jug from Powder Valley for 159 bucks delivered . Not bad considering the last jug of it I saw at Sportsmans Warehouse they wanted 157.99 for it and I would have had to pay taxes on top of that . The other nice thing about it is that it meters like water so I just use my Lee powder measure to throw loads rather than trickling out each one .

YMMV

N135. Very accurate (and fast) from my 18" with 55gr ballistic tips.

Re: What powder is in stock and is good for .223?

smokin, Cabela's online/mail order has/had RL-15 last week 5 lbs jugs. Great for
69g SMK using 25.0 g, oal 2.260, CCI BR-4, Lapua brass & good for .308 too...not cheap esp. with hazmat, tho.

Re: What powder is in stock and is good for .223?

I have shot BLC-2 with good results, it's temp sensitive so be careful about working the loads, but it's very consistent otherwise.

Usually I shoot lots of mil surp powder and I have a bunch of it so I'm not in the buying market for that stuff. BLC-2 seems to be attainable from most places if you look a little bit.
