have a rem 700 bdl heavy barrel(my dads) that has made little bugholes for over 35 years with 4064 and 55's. about a year ago, i tried varget in it but it didnt shoot as well as the 4064
Either 31.0 grains of IMR 4064 or 35.5 grains of IMR 4895 are both very good loads. Since I don't have that rifle anymore, I have never tried Varget in it.
If you're loading 55 gr pills stay with 380. 39.5 gr under a 55 NBT will produce amazingly accurate results. Varget does OK but the accuracy is nothing like 380.

H-380 is awsome for 50's and 55's. I like Varget for 40's,50's and 55's. I tried Benchmark and I couldn't get as good of accuracy but more velocity with less powder. 1 inch groups with Benchmark vs 1/4 to 1/2 inch with varget and h-380. I loaded right to the book length as the chamber on my 700 doesn't allow for setting the bullet out( Throat is too long). The 22 250 does not seem to mind jumping to the lands at all. Jeff
I have had good results with RE10x and Benchmark with 50gr VMAX's and 55gr SBK's. I never could get H380 to shoot to my satisfaction in any of the 4 22-250's I have tried it in, unlike everybody else that I know (and everything I read!). Also, IMR 4895 and 52gr SMK's used to be my go to load.
I load 36.5 grains of IMR4320 with 52, 53, and 55 grain bullets and my old M700 loves it. Consistant 1/4" to 1/2" groups with several different bullets. My new Savage Predator shoots 37.5 grains of Varget with a 50 grain Ballistic tip into 1/4" to 3/8". I've also had very good luck with H380.
