I have a dilemma, I have a new unfired GAP Rock that's sort of special. It has a 24" barrel #7 contour Bartlein barrel in 11.25 twist, Cerakoted black, and in a McMillian M40A1-HTG stock with adjustable LOP spacers, Badger M4 bottom metal, and it's marble color molded in 60% olive, 20% black, and 20% brown. Very nice, to say the least.
My problem is the stock is not for me ergonomic wise. I prefer the McMillian A2 and A5, H-S precision like what my Remington 5R's have, or the Sako TRG stocks.
I know this rifle is, or should be a hammer since my other Rock which is in the same configuration but with a 22" barrel and McMillian A2 stock, is definitely a hammer and shoots 3/8-moa if I do my part.
I prefer the 24" barrel over anything shorter.
So, what should I do?
Option 1 - sell the rifle and put the money towards a Crusader with 24" barrel, which is what I've been dreaming about ever since I personally found out what GAP rifle's are all about.
-or-
Option 2 - sell the stock and have either Manners or GAP install a T-2 stock that's been done in 4-color Flectar camo. Which would look awesome with the rifle action and barrel in black.
If I choose option-1, and never shoot the rifle, I'll be wondering for the rest of my life how that rifle would have done in my hands.
If I choose option-2, it might cost me as much to restock the rifle as described above vs. just selling the rifle and getting the Crusader. What kind of price could I get out of that M40A1-HTG stock?
I need more time shooting, as I don't sit and ponder these difficult questions when pulling the trigger.
