What sort of aftermarket support for savage 11/111 hog hunter?

There are multiple options for bottom metals and stocks too. The Model 11 is identical to the Model 10, with just a different finish. It will be the 4.4" bolt spacing with the centerfeed. Yes, the factory stock has the blind magazine. So, plan on changing that one out as soon as you get your hands on it.

Your choice of stocks is wide open. I would highly recommend the Manners MCS-TA. Great ergonomics, light weight, and they will do the inletting for you for free.

Depending on what type of bottom metal you are going to be using will determine what magazines you will have access too. I personally recommend the factory Savage bottom metal, with the factory 4 round magazine, or the 10 round magazine that Dan @ Dark Eagle Customs builds. If you go the AICS route, I would recommend the CDI bottom metal. I recommend either of those to get you into the double stack, centerfeed magazines. High capacity, and lower profile. Nice and compact setup.

I just bought one last week to start my build. Like the above post said it has the 4.4 bolt spacing and side bolt release, so there are many options. The factory stock is very cheap and flimsy. I have been researching a few and I am leaning toward the Mcrees. I like the looks of it and the price point is reasonable compared to others.

Everything he said EXCEPT...some 11/111 have the new style reciever that has the bolt release on the trigger guard instead of right behind the bolt lever...this mucks things up a bit...CDI now makes DBM for this style of action...Hopefully Savage stops using this configuration...its not very populare out here due to the mag issues and stock differences...also with the LONG actio Bell and Carson options are limited...CHOATE makes a SA and LA that works, H&S, McMillan and Manners are GTG...

Are there any stocks in the $300 range? I'm looking to build up a hunting/500 yd steel ringing rig, so I just need something solid, not outstanding.

The Choate Tactical would be the one that I would choose in that range. Very sturdy, good ergonomics, and available with the DBM inlet. The stock comes with an aluminum bedding block, but you can also skim bed the stock as well. It is a chunk to carry, but it will get things done. I still recommend the Manners MCS-T(A) over any other stock out there.
