I know this seems like a sh*t on cops thread, but I honestly don't know how a good cop can stand the system with DA's letting the really bad crime go; prosecutors not prosecuting...who wants to put their life on the line arresting someone for something heinous that will be back on the street to hunt them down in hours. Easier to go after white trash or people that believe in the Constitution.

They knew him by name, they knew who would be driving that car, (the guy who would be testifying against them in two weeks) and whose family was suing them, when they pulled him over. He took 12 rounds. If I could be convinced he was going for his gun I absolutely would be fine with the outcome...but I'm not convinced and even the police chief who did the press conference admitted as much - that he wasn't sure the driver wasn't just going for his seatbelt and not his gun after they said they were going to destroy his car to get him out. Amazing how you guys all know the answer to that when the officers own chief doesn't. I will defend officers when they do they what is necessary; thi isn't that clearcut. The more we know, the worse the optics are for these officers. It was "gun" and 5 officers unloading. Cameras conveniently turned off to and then a still photo of gun on floorboard...that just smells. No way he had time or motor function left to unholster if the gun was in his holster or retrieve if it was on the floorboard after you heard "gun". Someone previously said "he pulled a gun on a cop" - no, we don't know that; and from our limited views you can't tell me he unholstered that gun that quickly after we heard "Gun". GreenGo - you yourself said the gun was wedged under the floor mat in the still photos... Tricky placement after you've been shot that much. Was it there from the beginning of this event? We don't know, it hasn't been confimed if the holster was empty or not. I agree having backup called in 27 seconds and 4 addtional officers appear under 3 minutes also doesn't seem quite right.

And qualified immunity goes well beyond the behavior of some LEO’s. I can think of a number of county and sate employees who pulled me through a knot hole regarding land use on my ranch that has been there for 50+ years. Nothing new. Still had cattle on most of it. It took me 3 years to get through that mess and after 2 different managers retired a number of employees said that the managers “just had it out for you. But now you are good to go.”
Small minded, petty, frightened county employees who just want to ride it out and collect their pensions.
Nobody in our lifetime fought against an enemy of America proper or for the people of this country, but they have fought for interests other than ours regardless if they understand this or not. Don’t lie to yourself or them as it owns perpetuates the cycle of young men dying for nothing.
The force of protectors as you put it, is the people within society itself. People are more than capable of protecting themselves and those around them. We don’t because it’s made illegal and costly by gov’t and its enforcers that serve and protect it. This isn’t by accident. Gov’t forces people to rely on the state as it redistributes power from the people to the system.
It’s not that I am against the rule of law, I just believe the law shouldn’t be dictated by the most evil, greedy, and vile among us. These are the very people who are drawn to gov’t considering this is the type that salivates thinking of ruling others. There is right and wrong and gov’t shouldn’t make that decision for us. We all know it’s not right to rape, murder, and steal. Those that do these things should pay the price by the hands of those victimized. As it is right now, the ones doing the most of these things work in gov’t and are above their own laws, protected by men with badges and the system designed to empower them. Apparently when men seize power, hire an army of enforcers (LEO) to protect them and force their will onto the people, and pays them a salary with money deemed “legal” to steal from the working class, tyranny is always the result. Imagine that. If gov’t as we know it is such a good thing, it wouldn’t have to be forced by the end of a sword. I believe in the people and that great things happen despite gov’t while many of you believe in and give credit to the system itself.
If the events just in the last few years haven’t opened your eyes then I doubt anything ever will. The covid tyranny alone should have made every man on the planet have a disdain for gov’t authority and every person that willingly plays a part in its operation. Any man with any shred of decency wouldn’t serve a gov’t that would do such things yet millions do.
