Governor Scott has declared a state of emergency for Florida because of hurricane (to be) Michael moving north in the Gulf.

    With that said:

I stopped at a Walmart on the way home from a doctor visit.
Looking at guns and their ammo selection, I come across this sign.

I can't figure out if this is a political thing done by the store manager, or if there is some new law in Florida that I'm unaware of.

Other gun shops didn't have anything like this posted, so I'm lead to believe it's the Walmart managers doing.

If there was a time people might want to buy a gun or stock up on ammo, this would be it.

The Walmart in question that I went to this morning was also in Pasco County.

    Something smells fishy and
if the order is supposedly coming from the county, I think Sheriff Chris Nocco should address this issue.

Mike, they did the same thing here the last two times that we had hurricanes come through our area of eastern central Florida. I wouldn't have known about it except I was going to pick up a lower that I had ordered and my lgs told me that they were forced to close since they were not allowed to show or sell firearms and ammo during the SOE declared for the storm.

However, as you hint at, this is supposed to only apply to the counties affected by the SOE and not the whole state.

What you are likely seeing with the Walmart, is corporate lawyers being overly sensitive and over-reacting or misinterpreting a standard letter from fdle.

I'm surprised at FL. We have one fairly insignificant restriction, if and only if you have the brains to acquire a LTCF:

18 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes § 6107 - Prohibited Conduct During Emergency

§ 6107. Prohibited conduct during emergency.

    (a) General rule.--No person shall carry a firearm upon the public streets or upon any public property during an emergency proclaimed by a State or municipal governmental executive unless that person is:

    (1) Actively engaged in a defense of that person's life or property from peril or threat.

    (2) Licensed to carry firearms under section 6109

(relating to licenses) or is exempt from licensing under section 6106(b) (relating to firearms not to be carried without a license).

    (b) Seizure, taking and confiscation.--Except as otherwise provided under subsection (a) and notwithstanding the provisions of 35 Pa.C.S. Ch. 73 (relating to Commonwealth services) or any other provision of law to the contrary, no firearm, accessory or ammunition may be seized, taken or confiscated during an emergency unless the seizure, taking or confiscation would be authorized absent the emergency.

    (c) Definitions.--As used in this section, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this subsection: "Accessory." Any scope, sight, bipod, sling, light, magazine, clip or other related item that is attached to or necessary for the operation of a firearm. "Firearm." The term includes any weapon that is designed to or may readily be converted to expel any projectile by the action of an explosive or the frame or receiver of any weapon. (June 13, 1995, 1st Sp.Sess., P.L.1024, No.17, eff. 120 days; Oct. 17, 2008, P.L.1628, No.131, eff. 60 days)

In florida, during an evacuation order, even un licensed people are allowed CC. This policy was put out by Governor Scott.
Apparently he views CC as a right of self defense and defense of personal property.

    Nice
