Sidearms & Scatterguns What to do with my mossberg 500 home defense shotgun

I've had my 500 for more than 30 plus years. The only thing I added was a light and an esstac ammo card. I shoot an A 5 for competitions, but a handful of times a year I'll take and shoot the 500. Many years ago I competed with only the 500, in all those years and shooting thousands of rounds, it's never had a malfunction. It's dead on reliable, which is for me, the most important feature in any type of defense firearm. Which I'm assuming your using your 500 for. I'd say throw a light on and run it. Elzetta makes a pretty good mount that will fit the 500.

I only have two Mossbergs. The 500 Persuader that seems more like a curiosity, since one has to point shoot it.

On the other this 590A1 14" with thick wall barrel is a keeper. Added the SpeedFeed stock just for fun, tritium ghost sights, Mesa side saddle, Rogers single point sling, Vang Comp aluminum safety (replace OEM plastic),Falcon aluminum trip-rail, AimPro magazine follower, SureFire Scout. Replacing the cheap plastic factory safety is worthwhile.

why do people ask "what are some upgrades?"........and not "i dont like XXXXX about my gun, what are my options?"......

if you dont know what you want to upgrade....why do anything at all?

i can slap $1000 worth of "upgrades" on a gun.....and its not going to shoot any better for me than a stock mossberg.
