Guy at work has a Rem. 700P barreled action for sale. How can I tell the diffrence between a 700Varmint and 700 police? It was in an HS stock, but I have a varmint in one as well. Is there any difference? Thanks

HS Stock, Parkerized finish vs blued finish, better bottom metal, older 40x trigger (iirc) and I'd imagine better QC for a 700P. Supposedly police models carry an accuracy guarantee also but I'm not too positive about that one.

I believe the 700P has a 1-10 twist and the varmint has a 1-12..

Get the serial number and call remington. They should be able to validate it
