Rifle Scopes What's the Hide's thoughts on Stoney Point knobs?

I have a couple rifles fitted with Illuminated 30mm VXIII scopes and could do with some repeatable elevation adjustment for range use. These are hunting rifles. Are the Stoney Point knobs useful? I was thinking of building simple click-value range charts for the lens caps. TIA.

stoney points are what they claim they are. as long as your scope is repeatable in the elevation dept., so will the knobs. and they are useful when stretching the adaptability of a non turreted hunting scope.

those kenton knobs look nicer, are a little more expensive, but would compliment your VXIII scope alot better.

Why not send the scopes in to Leupold and have them add target turrets?

We have had a couple shooters at our Raton match , http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...32568#Post32568 , that have used them and it ended badly both times . The knobs had a bad habit of skipping on the turrets and the there zero's were screwed from there on out .
If You are looking for something to dail with save your money and have the turrets swapped or buy some thing with target turrets on it all ready .

Re: What's the Hide's thoughts on Stoney Point kno

Put a set on a Vari-X III a few years ago... They are OK but are not waterproof amongst other things. I ended up adding another shim to keep the blade and shaft down on the scope. I also swedged the blade with a hammer and chisel to widen it in spots and then fit them with a fine ceramic stone until they were a very tight fit into the slot on the scope. Out of the box they are sloppy...

If I was to do it again I'd just send the optic to Leupold and have M1's put on it.
