carry a pistol in a car. There are times when I cannot take my CCW with me (banks, courthouses, schools) and need to leave the weapon in my vehicle. Don't want to lock it in the trunk. Any suggestions?

Re: What's the most secure way to

Seriously thought about bolting a gun safe somewhere in the car - can't get access under the seats (Camry) and bolting it under the dash seems tricky with all the electronics and knee airbags, etc. Also looked at the cabled safes, but that seems to leave a loose hindrance on the floor. Maybe just lock it up in the glove compartment or my center console. I know there are side holster type apparatuses which allow you to keep a gun next to the drivers left seat - not sure if I have room for one of those.

Re: What's the most secure way to

I have a gun vault in my pickup. It rests on the rear floor board, and is attached to the frame of the drivers seat with a braided cable. I suppose someone could still steal it. But it wouldn't be quick, and they would need tools. Seems to work ok for me. I'm not sure you can't carry in a bank tho. Your state laws might be different, roger on the court houses and schools.

Re: What's the most secure way to

Dillon's latest Blue Press has an article on this very subject, may give you some ideas (See page 60):

I never liked the idea of leaving a gun in a vehicle, so whenever I do need to leave mine unattended, I always remove the magazine/ammo so it can't be used on me!... Gotta thank my buddy Carl for that idea.

Cheers,

Bill
