Rifle Scopes When to get lower rings

This is my first bolt gun so sorry for the newbie question. I bought a Bergara HMR in .308 and set it up with a Nightforce 20 MOA base, Vortex Viper HD LHT 3x15x42 and medium Vortex PMR rings which are .97" high. The scope sits .4" above the barrel. Is that high enough that I should consider moving to a low ring and getting the scope .1" lower? There is no problem with cheek weld and the HMR has an adjustable cheek rest. The rifle will mostly shoot paper between 100-300 yards and hunt whitetail out to 100 yards.

Until pretty recent times, I still went with the "lower is better" idea when mounting a scope. I got away with it because I shot almost entirely from a bench at targets, or off-hand when in the field. Then I began shooting prone and discovered that my low-mounted scopes were very difficult to see through because I had to lower my head at such a severe angle that I could barely see through the top of the lens in my glasses. Getting both the scope and rifle higher in prone has allowed for a more relaxed position and a view through the middle of my glasses where there's less distortion. It's been a win-win for me.
